One of my biggest beefs with the orginial Trijicon Trijicon Reflex is that the dot would washout when using a flashlight in the dark. Something about the dark to light transition. A flashlight indoors can get washed out. There are people working on that. chewbacca6/16/2011 2:40:37 PM Been there done that with both. TheEotechis far superior in my opinion because I can’t stand the blue tint, washout, and small FOV of the reflex. Cryptyc6/16/2011 2:50:16 PM I absolutely love the Eotech. I regret that I don’t have the mako or triji to do a direct comparison for you but myEotechhas been amazing and I highly recommend it for any shooter. magicstop6/16/2011 2:52:53 PM I just wanted to help out your considerations a bit by showing you some pricing that you may not have seen. Trijicon RX30 for $350 here: RX30 That would make it less than yourEotechoption, if you are good with the 6.5 moa amber reticle. There are other reticle options for a bit more money to be had elsewhere. Also, you said you like Aimpoint, but don’t want to spend a lot of money to get them mounted. You should REALLY consider the aimpoint PRO. It’s got basically the same specs as the CompM3, and it comes WITH a mount, all for usually $400 – $420. This is a super good deal, and nets you a really nice aimpoint for a price that is comparable or better than a lot of the EOTechs. Finally, if you are worried about theEotechbattery problems, consider one of the XPS or EXPS lines. The batteries are transversely mounted, eliminated the problems the others experience, they’re lighter, and you can get one for a great price. ETA: aimpoint PRO for $410 here: Palmetto State That’s a sick deal, and is again, a mounted, top notch Aimpoint. I’d suggest that if you’re interested in Aimpoint. Greg36/16/2011 8:34:00 PM I had the RX01 w/12 MOA triangle on my Colt R0635 subgun and it was a perfect match for it and myself. Of course it was on the foward handle mount like above. I had it for about 12yrs and it was as bright as the day I got it. I traded it off to a newEotech512. I kept the 512 on my M4 flattop for years and now it lives on my MSAR STG556. Never a problem with the 512 and I have had it for 10yrs now. The only think I didn’t like about the Trijicon was the washout. I had to keep the filter on it all of the time. Other than that it was a kick ass little sight.
I was thinking we could have one that was dedicated to the SKS. I bought (layaway) a Yugo SKS Rifle Stocks today, I paid $251 (is that a good price?) total. It has the flip up grenade sight, and long muzzle device. Stock was dark (possibly dirty?), all numbers matched (don’t know if that’s a big deal?) and the pad on the butt plate was intact. I don’t know much about the SKS, but I’m betting someone here does. I’ll post up some pics of it next week. Ammo was about that same price for 1100 on stippers and 1500 loose. Its been reported, but I’m not sure if 100% fact, that China imported more SKS’s in a 3-5 year span then the entire production of Win. Model 94′s. They guy we bought em from was a serious, old school, country, kitchen table ffl, who had crates and crates of stuff in his garage. which reminds me, i should prolly go retrieve them from their current location before that property gets sold. hadn’t even thought about those rifles in years. In ’94, they were probably Chinese. That’s about the time they were as common as most anything else in the local stores. I should have bought more and I should have held on the the ones I bought. Have one Yugo now. Joined: Nov 2006 Joined: Oct 2002 all we knew was they were 40$ a rifle in crates of 10 with all kinds of cool shit, and the ammo was cheap as hell. Since we “put them down” we havent even touched the spot where they are, out of sight out of mind and all, i think we pretty much verified that they were all real rifles, and then we set em up for loooooong term storage. that old guy was cool as hell, he always had all kinds of crap, i think he went to alot of auctions at the ng base nearby. we ended up with all kinds of cool stuff everytime we swung by i’ll be the first to admit that my childhood was kind of different than most other folks, had alot of slightly unhinged vets as role models, who thought that kids should know everything they had to teach about what they learned in the service. and the local neighbors (ie on the bounds of our acerage) were pretty much all serious survivalists, learned alooooot and alot of what i learned has paid huge dividends in my military carrer Hell hath no fury like that of a Battery of Paladins firing for effect. proffesional كافر Joined: Dec 2009 For some reason I didn’t even think to look in the AK threads!
Other than that – I’m very thankful Trijicon made this scope. It’s a perfect blend of precision and speed. It’s eye relief, size, and FOV make for a fast & compact general purpose optic. For 10-300 yard shooting, this is in my opinion, the perfect ACOG. For shooting under 10 yards, it seems like it’d serve me well – I may toss some Bulter Creek Flip Caps on this one for an occluded option since the construction will allow for it! Plus, the caps will make the Trijicon ACOG Scope Coat a thing of the past. Something always kept me from hanging onto an ACOG. I feel the TA33R8 was made just for me!
